ABOUT
Michelle Mathews’s practice focuses on litigation and counseling clients on commercial and employment-related matters. Prior to joining Scott Patton PC, Michelle practiced at a commercial defense firm in Houston, Texas where she primarily represented individuals and companies in all aspects of litigation. Michelle has represented clients in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative bodies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Texas Workforce Commission. In 2024, Michelle argued and obtained summary judgment for a health care hospital system in a religious discrimination matter regarding its employee vaccine mandate policy.
Representation and counsel of various corporate clients for several aspects of employment law such as claims under the Texas Health & Safety Code, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, the TCHRA, and the National Labor Relations Act.
Representation of commercial landlord in breach of contract claim.
Representation of an international distribution and supply chain company in a retaliation claim under the Family Medical Leave Act.
Representation of businesses and individuals in drafting, counseling, and negotiating employment agreements, confidentiality agreements, covenants not to compete, and non-solicitation clauses.
