Joseph I. Balat

ABOUT

Joseph I. Balat is a native Houstonian with extensive experience assisting clients on both sides of the bar with complex litigation matters, including breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, deceptive trade practices, and various employment and commercial disputes. He has successfully assisted clients in handling cyberbullying, social media disparagement, and fraudulent online reviews that impact businesses and business owners’ reputations. Additionally, he has a successful track record of defending hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in medical malpractice cases and professional state licensing board proceedings. He also assists businesses in health care, hospitality, insurance, and energy with business diversification and structuring, as well as employment and partnership agreements. Before joining Scott Patton PC, Joe practiced at a highly-regarded firm that specializes in representing healthcare providers and organizations. While in law school, he was a recipient of the Dean’s Leadership Award for two consecutive years. He co-founded and was the first president of, the St. Mary’s University School of Law alternative dispute organization.
